At present, 40 to 60% of total production in Malawi is marketed, of which 35% is processed into peanut cake, oil, and peanut butter, and the rest is exported (Derlagen and Phiri 2012; Emmott 2013). The amount currently exported from Malawi has steadily increased to surpass levels exported before the market crashed during the early 1990s ( Fig. 1 ).
